Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • What renovations add value to your home?

House extensions are often one of the highest value opportunities. Turning your 2 bedroom / 1 bathroom unit, into a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house. The same would apply for going from a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom to a 4 bedroom 2 bathroom home.

The addition of a master bedroom and ensuite is a high yield renoavtion.

  • How much does it cost to renovate a house in NZ?

Whilst cost to build new is readily expressed in $/ m2 , the same does not apply when doing internal renovations.

Indications can be given on a room by room basis, but generally speaking every job is a start from scratch scenario. This is due to the types of materials required for specific rooms of the home, and range of finishes available from cheaper to extravagant.

  • Can I live in my house during a renovation?

In a large number of our renovation projects our customers continue to live in the property while the renovation is undertaken. The key factors in determining this is safety, weathertightness and access to facilities.

  • How much should I spend on a house renovation?

If you are thinking of renovating your home to sell, don't start unless you are sure you will get 1 1/2 times the cost in increased value. If you are renovating to stay, then spend as much as it takes to give you the house you want.

  • Where do I start if I want to renovate my house?

With a cup of tea at your place with an experienced home renovation contractor.

The scoping and planning stage is crucial to turn your dream concept, into the perfect home renovation you will love for years to come.

  • Is it cheaper to renovate or build new?

It is typically cheaper to build new, because you don't have to deconstruct before you construct (other than potential earthworks). However if you love your location and parts of your home, renovating is a great option.

  • Is it better to renovate or move?

If you love your location and parts of your home, renovating is a great option.

You can extend parts of your home, change the internal layout, or even just change the colour pallet and finishes for a fresh new home feel.
