Pzazz Building's House of the Year entry

A guided tour of Pzazz Building’s House of the Year entry

You may not have known this, but we build new homes as well as doing renovations and home extensions . Although our Taranaki affiliate, Isiah Reynolds, has built many homes, this is the first time he’s found time to enter the House of the Year Awards. We think you’ll agree it’s been worth the wait.

“I was influenced by some of the other master builders to enter,” says Isiah.

The New Plymouth home which he has entered for this year's event was designed by Tony Biesiek of Imagine Building Designs and is entered in the $1 million to $2 million build category.

“The Master Builders House of the Year is all about workmanship,” awards judge Clive Barrington said in Stuff. “Two thirds of the points are on workmanship and the other third is on design functionality.”

The judges also take into account the degree of difficulty of the job, he said.

“This house is a good example of this as they've lifted in giant concrete panels to form the walls and a polished concrete floor that has to be treated with care throughout the whole build process.”

“I’m inspired by the uniqueness of the house and its location,” says Isiah.

However, the Awards’ rules specify that no photos of the outside of the house can be taken and nothing can identify the house, its location, or the homeowners.

We’ll have to wait till the winner is announced next month to see more shots of this truly magnificent home.
