“No matter what size the bathroom, you've still got to fit in the same things – a vanity, shower, toilet and often a bath,” she says.
“To make sure a smaller bathroom really works for its users, you've got to be more creative and smart about the layout and fittings.”
Take this bathroom, for example. The original vanity took up too much space and the shower, while it fitted nicely in the corner, leaked badly, necessitating that lovely blue shower curtain and big green absorbant bath mat. By installing a frameless glass shower, Janeen created the illusion of greater space in the bathroom.
Again, the use of a frameless shower enclosure instead of the nasty pink-framed one at left has opened this bathroom right up. And the new bath, vanity, built-in towel rails and gorgeous colours has given it a warmer, more contemporary feel.
This little bathroom was dark and damp and nobody liked using it, until Janeen worked her magic and recreated it. Even with a bath that wasn't there before, the room looks bigger and more welcoming. You can't quite see it from the photo at right, but the bath is also now the shower and is square-bottomed for safety.
