Kitchen renovation costs vary significantly depending on the size of the space, the level of building work involved, cabinetry choices, appliances and finishes selected.

As a guide:

Basic kitchen refresh: $20,000–$30,000

Mid-range renovation: $30,000–$45,000

Luxury/custom kitchen: $60,000+

Pzazz recommends focusing on your goals, lifestyle and budget first, rather than relying on generic online estimates, as every home and renovation is different. An in-home consultation and concept design are the best way to establish realistic costs.

A typical kitchen renovation takes between two and six weeks, although more complex projects involving structural changes or extensions can take longer. Smaller, straightforward renovations may be completed in as little as two to four weeks, while larger renovations can take up to eight weeks or more.

Because kitchen renovations involve multiple trades including builders, electricians, plumbers, cabinetmakers, painters and tilers, careful project management and planning are essential to keep everything running smoothly.

Many kitchen renovations do not require building consent. However, consent may be required if your renovation includes:

  • Removing or altering structural walls.
  • Moving significant plumbing or electrical services.
  • Changing the external envelope of the home, such as adding windows or doors.

During the planning stage, Pzazz works with homeowners to identify whether consent is needed and manages the process where required.

The starting point is understanding how you and your family want to use the space.

Questions to consider include:

  • Do you love entertaining?
  • Would a butler's pantry suit your lifestyle?
  • Do children use the kitchen for homework or gathering?
  • How important is connection to outdoor living areas?
  • Do you prefer open-plan living?

Pzazz begins every project with an In-Home Consultation, followed by design concepts and 3D visualisations to ensure the new kitchen works for the way your family lives.

Yes — in most cases you can stay in your home during a kitchen renovation.

For typical Pzazz kitchen renovations, homeowners remain living on-site, but your kitchen will be out of action for part of the build. Most people set up a temporary kitchen space with basic appliances in another part of the house to get through the project more comfortably.

The level of disruption depends on the scope of work. If the renovation involves structural changes, plumbing relocations, or a full redesign, there may be short periods where access is more limited.

Pzazz manages this through a clear, structured process — starting with an in-home consultation, followed by design and a clearly priced proposal, so you know what’s happening, when it’s happening, and how long your kitchen will be unusable.

With good planning and project management, most homeowners can stay in their home throughout the renovation with minimal disruption.
